Grants & Schemes

Let’s cover what you may be entitled to when purchasing a stairlift

Most people aren’t aware that there are grants available for people on lower income. Your local housing department in your County Council offer both the Mobility Aids Grant and Housing Adaptation Grant schemes for households.

You need to contact your local housing department and request the relevant form depending on what you’re applying for, as it doesn’t just cover stairlifts!

The grants are means tested and the entire household is assessed, with some exceptions. You can find out more information about these grants here: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/housing/housing_grants_and_schemes/housing_adaptation_grant_for_people_with_disability.html

VAT Rebates

Additional to the housing grant that’s available, any user with a disability can normally claim the VAT back on a stairlift with Revenue. This can be done by submitting a VAT 61A form or by submitting a request through ROS.
